I am a hearing-impaired person who can't hear any sound below 120 decibels (approximately the sound intensity of lightning blasting in 10 m)[1]. Below that, without my hearing aid, there is only silence.
Because of this, sound has never been taken for granted for me; it has been a conscious pursuit and a destination that has most shaped who I am.
